I know OU has an outstanding team, but the same can't be said about their Mickey Mouse schedule: www.soonersports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31000&SPID=127251&SPSID=750355&DB_OEM_ID=31000Given the Big 12 is fairly weak in softball, the Sooners should have done a better job of beafing up their ooc schedule. That schedule is a pass to the NCAAs which allows OU to experiment and grow without fear of building up many losses. The Sooners will lock down a high seed, probably the #1 seed, without having the record to base it on. The Sooners are a good enough team to repeat as national champion. It's a shame they don't have to gut it out more during the regular season as they would have to do in the SEC or the PAC 12. The only chance to have done that was in ooc which I see as a fail. The softball schedule should match up with what OU has done in football. The OU women's gymnastics schedule is excellent too.

OU could have scheduled an away series at Oregon, but instead schedules a game at Oregon followed by 2 games at Oregon State. Now, that took guts. (rolling eyes) If going out there, damn it, play the best. Everybody who knows anything about softball knows Oregon is the gem in Oregon and usually within the PAC 12. They have some of the best facilities for softball in the United States. I think it more likely that OU has hired an ex-tOSU scheduler. If you don't have an above average chance of winning, don't schedule the games. That would account for having single games against Nebraska and Ohio State on the schedule. I see OU scheduled a bottom tier SEC team too, South Carolina, while avoiding the good SEC teams. That schedule reeks of the type of scheduling tOSU does. I can't wait for the WCWS. The Gators will be gunning for the sooners regardless of the stadium full of fans 40 miles away from home. Hell, that would be like having the college world series in Ocala for UF.

Do they travel out of state for an OOC game? Asking for a friend. LOL...clearly, great minds think alike. UF is playing the #16/#19 unbeaten Louisiana Lafayette Rajun Cajuns, aka The University of Louisiana, in a 3 game road series at Lafayette this coming weekend. OU hasn't scheduled anything like that in their ooc play. The Gators have already beaten Michigan who was ranked #16 at the time and is now #19 in a neutral site game in Tampa. Currently 5-0 and by the end of the weekend, UF will have played 4 games against current ranked competition out of 9 games, 1 neutral/3 road. OU may not play that many ranked teams all season depending on how Baylor and Oklahoma State turn out. Single games against Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, and Ohio State along with any ranked Big 12 games are the likely only chances to play against ranked teams until the conference tourney and the NCAAs. I don't see how much easier it can be. It is my hope that the NCAA selection committee doesn't reward this type of poor scheduling.

Now, if you were, please provide that first hand account of how things went down the way they did. I think it more likely that OU has hired an ex-tOSU scheduler. If you don't have an above average chance of winning, don't schedule the games. Excellent strategery by the Gators that is...I present the juggernaut OOC schedule for the Gators: North Florida, UL-Lafayette, Illinois State, Michigan, Georgia State, UAB, USF, Oakland (MI), Maryland, Georgia Southern, Hampton, FIU, Jacksonville and UCF. Might we expect you guys to have rematches with any of them at the WCWS? That would account for having single games against Nebraska and Ohio State on the schedule. I see OU scheduled a bottom tier SEC team too, South Carolina, while avoiding the good SEC teams. That schedule reeks of the type of scheduling tOSU does. LOL, it takes two to tango. More likely, OU offered home and home to Florida and the Gators said no, too far to travel. I can't wait for the WCWS. The Gators will be gunning for the sooners regardless of the stadium full of fans 40 miles away from home. Hell, that would be like having the college world series in Ocala for UF. OU has to make it there first. And FTR, so does Florida. The cfp may give byes to the SEC, but doesn't happen that way in softball.

Let me guess...your loss to Michigan in football was to the #11 ranked team and your win over Tennessee was over #23? Because, that's where they were at game time, right?
Back to softball...Tampa is a "neutral site" game for Michigan when playing UF? Thanks for clearing that up for me, I so often get Tampa and Ann Arbor confused, particularly in February.

You show you don't have a clue when you belittle Michigan, especially Michigan, and Louisiana Lafayette. UF's ranked ooc teams scheduled: Michigan Louisiana Lafayette Louisiana Lafayette Louisiana Lafayette Baylor Florida State Florida State Florida State That's as many ranked teams as OU has scheduled in ooc and conference play combined before adding UF's SEC schedule where the SEC has 9 ranked teams. Each ranked SEC team the Gators play is a 3 game series. It doesn't take rocket science to see who has scheduled up and who hasn't. The only way OU can schedule up is in ooc which again is a fail in scheduling. I got to see the Gators team 2018 tonight. This team is loaded having more power hitting than last season while hitting for average, a great defense, and a quality 4 deep pitching staff. UF will be in the WCWS and will likely make to the final series as well. It would be nice to dethrone the defending champion who has to get there as you say. In a reversal of roles, I'd be concerned that the OU schedule is so soft that the Sooners won't be battle tested when the time comes in a regional final or in the WCWS. Soft will get OU a terrific won/loss record, but not the resume or the preparation for the better teams to come when advancing in the NCAA tourney.

You do have a point insofar as it goes. Early season rankings can be fickle, but programs who are consistent winners and usually ranked are clear to see by anyone who follows softball on more than a cursory basis as you apparently do. You can't see the college softball world because you have a sooner blockage on the end of your nose. The SEC and the PAC 12 are as predictable as rain in knowing so many programs are going to be winners that are ranked and go to the NCAA tourney. The SEC frequently gets 2 or more teams to the WCWS. Beating North Florida 9-0 in 5 innings while pitching a 12 strikeout no hitter is what OU gets to experience game in and game out with little competition. I'd tell you to enjoy the softball season, but OU has decided to sit out the season until the start of the NCAA tourney.
