The Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994-2004
The Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB)—officially, the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act—is a subsection of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, a United States federal law that included a prohibition on the manufacture for civilian use of certain semi-automatic firearms it defined as assault weapons, as well as certain ammunition magazines it defined as "large capacity".
The ten-year ban was passed by the U.S. Congress on September 13, 1994, following a close 52–48 vote in the Senate, and signed into law by then President Bill Clinton the same day. The ban only applied to weapons manufactured after the date of the ban's enactment, and it expired on September 13, 2004, in accordance with its sunset provision.

Despite the many loopholes in the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994-2004, it appears to have reduced U.S. homicides caused by mass shootings, eh, fellas? And, as I recall, Ronald Reagan expressed support for the ban at the time, eh, Daleko? |

The GOP is pushing the kooky NRA policy of arming teachers to reduce school shooting casualties. My question for Republicans. Did the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994-2004 reduce mass shootings in the U.S.? And, if so, why are Trump and the mainstream media not talking about it? |

Dig into the numbers in the chart, put them into context, how many shootings were handguns, how many were "assault" rifles, "military style" weapons, etc. People who accept charts at face value are either idiots or Harvard graduates.
