the process worked. the national media who mocked what the 76ers were doing in such a condescending way were wrong. sam hinkie was right.

That does not mean that the sport and its process is the better for it. Tanking is not a cool idea. the lakers tanked as well. they were just not as obvious about it. do you think kobe bryant should have really taken all those shots and have gotten all the minutes in his final season if the lakers were truly trying to win? everyone saw the lakers giving a nice farewell tribute to a legend. i saw the lakers trying to get in the ben simmons/brandon ingram sweepstakes. there are about 12 teams tanking right now as i type this. tanking has always existed in sports. how do you think the pittsburgh penguins got evgani malkin and sidney crosby? or how the colts got peyton manning and andrew luck? what the sixers did was not pretend like everyone else does. and they were the ones who got in trouble b/c they didn't lie about it like everyone else. and even when the 76ers were losing, they were still developing players. tj mcconnell is a really good backup PG now and he was the starting PG on that 10 win 76ers team. robert covington was undrafted and just signed a 4 year 60 million dollar contract and is one of the better 3 and D players in the NBA. he might be the best undrafted player in the league right now. his plus/minus is outstanding compared to other small forwards. www.theringer.com/nba/2017/11/30/16719370/robert-covington-sixers-best-undrafted-player. my point being that while the sixers were "tanking" to get better picks, they were also developing players who had talent but wouldn't get minutes on any other team to prove themselves.
