sixers now down 3-0 to the celtics.
as great as simmons was against miami, he has been pretty terrible against boston. credit boston's defense. their transition defense is outstanding. i've never seen anything like it. and they hardly turn the ball over. the easy buckets are just not there. when simmons gets a favorable matchup in the half court set, he's often been too passive to exploit it. he sort of looks like LSU ben simmons.
unlike miami, boston crashes the boards for rebounds. they crash hard. i grew accustomed to the 76ers getting 2nd chance points and not giving up offensive rebounds. this has flipped this series.
embiid isn't playing great either. at the end of games, he's been noticeably tired and lazy. maybe it's the mask, but his shooting percentage around the rim has dropped off considerably. he's not even making free throws at the high percentage he shot most of the season.
jayson tatum is going to be a super star. he can shoot. he can stop of the dime and get to the basket. he's a tremendous all around player the sixers have no one on defense to stop him. i thought he was a bit overrated entering the series but he's going to be legit superstar. the only question is how will he play alongside gordon hayward when hayward returns? they both play similar positions. as a 76ers fan, it stings that tatum is so good as we chose fultz over him. and fultz doesn't even get minutes in the playoffs.
terry rozier has been a hell of a story. he's the primary ball handler and he does not have 1 turnover this series. think about it. it's insane. and he hits every open shot. he actually may be a better player than kyrie irving. i say that seriously. he's been that good.
a bit disappointing but the sixers still have a hell of an upside. simmons and embiid will get better. the 76ers have the assets to trade for kwahi leonard and can sign paul george as a free agent. and the 76ers still make a ton of sense for lebron if lebron wants to leave cleveland.
