Ah...as a SoCal kid, I was all in with the surf ethos. It drove a good part of my young years. Cannot tell you how many days I spent in the ocean and later in the pool.
It defined me for years.
Even as a grownup, I would spend Friday nights at the Hermosa Bijou theater watching local surf films.
It was truly a lfestyle that does not exist any longer. Surfing got angry and territorial and killed the concept.
I got to a point where it was not fun anymore.

BTW, the surf sound was all about The Wrecking Crew, who built the sound.
Biggest part?
Glen Campbell on lead guitar for most all of the early hits.

      What about Dick Dale, (aka Richard Anthony Monsour) the Lebanese-American who pioneered that quasi-Middle Eastern surf rock electric guitar sound?
