Former partner in crime Rick Gates lowered the boom on Manafort in court today. "Gates, clad in a blue suit and sporting an uncharacteristically clean-shaven face, did admit in court that he stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from Manafort by filing false expense reports.
But while sitting just a few feet from Manafort, Gates testified that Manafort worked with him to commit financial crimes, including filing false tax returns. Manafort directed him to commit other crimes, Gates said, such as not disclosing foreign bank accounts and omitting information from a court deposition. Manafort reportedly stared directly at Gates, while Gates avoided eye contact with Manafort."www.cnbc.com/2018/08/06/rick-gates-set-to-testify-against-paul-manafort-monday.htmlHow did these two clowns end up at the top of Trump's campaign committee?

At the time, Corey Lewandowski had assaulted someone, as I recall. And, in any case, Lewandowski was in over his head, as it became apparent that Trump would win the GOP nomination. I don't know the inside story, but Manafort's lobbying firm partner Roger Stone probably played a major role in Manafort becoming Chairman of Trump's campaign in June of 2016. Roger Stone was an early consultant in Trump's GOP primary bid.

He was charged with simple battery, but the prosecutor (a registered Democrat) dropped the charges. Trump said the reporter, Michelle Fields, grabbed him and Lewandowski merely grabbed Fields by the arm and pulled her away from Trump. Oh, whoop-dee doo, Ra mey. Yuge difference there, eh?
My point is that Lewandowski was in over his head, and had also done some inappropriate sh*t.
As for crooked Paul Manafort-- the subject of this thread?
The guy is a Russian money-laundering disaster-- like his crooked business associates Roger Stone and Don "the Con" Trump.

Incorrect, Dr. William Ernest Nie der hut. Your point was that Lewandoski had committed assault, which was a lie. You also failed to provide a link to your false comment, which is a violation of Walters rules for this section. But Walter will not delete your comments because you are his darling lover boy and he will ignore his rule in your case. But he was quick to delete other posts here from FRed. Maybe others as well. Walter, do you really have rules for all, or just your enemies?

Here is, precisely, what I said, Ra mey.
Looks like you owe me another apology.
But, more to the point, what do you have to say about Trump's two campaign managers-- crooked Paul and crooked Rick?

Paul Manafort's defense lawyers did not present a single witness for the defense.
Why bother, when they know that Donald Trump will simply abuse his Presidential power by pardoning his crooked Campaign Manager, in a quid pro quo for not spilling the beans about Trump's criminal conduct with the Kremlin?
Meanwhile, the Trump/Fox administration has been gas-lighting their supporters by talking about Straw Man Strzok's affair with a co-worker.

The Manafort case has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH DONALD TRUMP.
If he is convicted, let him do the time. No big deal. Life goes on, and all is GOOD with the Presidency.

I agree. This trial doesn't have anything to do with Trump. But the next one will. It is there where issues of being an unregistered foreign agent working as the campaign chairman of a presidential candidate will be heard. It will also be where lying to authorities about contacts with Russians will be heard.

www.dcd.uscourts.gov/sites/dcd/files/17-201.pdfThere are a few counts that are contemporaneous with the Trump campaign. If it starts to get interesting, that'll be where it happens.

FACT: If Trump leaves office for any reason short of losing an election, Mike Pence will take over and Paul Ryan or his Republican successor will move into the #2 slot. The conservative revolution will remain in full force. It is much bigger than ANY one person.
FACT: Demoncrats have nothing to offer but fruitcake socialist immoral flakes in November. When the faces of your party are Pelosi, Mad Maxine, and that nutcase woman who wears the cowboy hats, you are in DEEP SHIT.

Let's be honest, fellas.
Mutt Simmons would be shitting Confederate bricks if Obama's Campaign Manager turned out to be a crooked Kremlin employee who had hidden millions in Russian payouts from Uncle Sam...

I never said that Manafort's woes are Trump's. But a massive conviction in the first trial sets the table for Manafort to flip in the second. Frankly, I don't think Manafort knows much about the depth of Trump's Russia involvement. But he knows the players and he knows, for instance, how it was he even came to be involved with Trump. That alone could be an interesting story.
