       And now we find out that some of Trump's crooked cronies-- including grifter Wilbur Ross-- have major investments in companies that are directly benefiting from Trump's tariffs.

My bad.  I should have said, "Had major investments..."   Ross's hedge fund has had major holdings in the steel industry.

While I'm not experienced enough at fortune telling the economic future of any policy decision re tariffs, the fact that not everyone stands to gain from a given policy is not in itself an argument against it or an argument against Trump. That's not in itself. IMO.

If one was not so focused on Trump's personna.............. 

Costs and benefits must always be weighed. This a lesson that many have used who are defenders of the Affordable Care Act, who shrugged when it did not turn out to be the case that plans and other coverage options such as the choice of doctors or facilities remained untouched or that costs fell or stayed the same, when  in fact, they have increased precipitously. Well at least that's my perception of some who would ague the same position from different sides, in two different areas of public policy. But that's just my perception. 

Maybe this will turn out poorly, maybe not. But that is somewhere in the future.  Time will tell. Maybe this operation receives the link mentioned waivers, maybe not. Maybe it, like many businesses have over the years, evolves, maybe not.

Element Electronics imports some parts from China and assembles some TVs in their South Carolina plant. Other products they sell are assembled in China and merely sold here under their name.
Perhaps this company could purchase parts from some country not affected by tariffs. One suggestion is the United States. What a novel idea!

You mean like resistors, capacitors, ICs, wire, glass for the screens, plastic to house everything, etc.?........damn, that would be like putting americans back to work. Can't have that. That would go too far towards rebuilding the middle class. America instead needs to further build the ranks of the poor to lower middle class to be only consumers.
