No it isn't. It's one bottle of whiskey for a thousand dollars. There is no chance it tastes $1000 good. None. Your argument is basically telling me that the biggest mistake I could make if I buy it would be to drink it. Yep. It isn't worth more than 249.99, imo, if I was gonna drink it. Even then, not even that. It's pretty good, as I recall but........ there's better out there for less. It's become a cult thing. Especially the younger somethings that are into Bourbon. And geezers like Fred. Nay, ye wee interloper! I'm mainly into single malt whisky and tequila. Never really ventured into bourbon.

I've never paid more than 90$ for a bottle of booze. Boone's Farm was a buck seventy-five, I think.

On a related note, Costco has an AMAZING 18 year old single malt Speyside scotch bottled under the Kirkland label. Tastiest, smoothest scotch I've ever had. An outstanding bargain at $54. My local Costco sold out but now has a 20 year Speyside single malt for $57. Outstanding whisky! Although I actually prefer the 18 year. I don't know how they do it at these prices. An 18 year The Macallan will cost you $265.

An 18 year The Macallan will cost you $265. punchdrink.com/articles/how-costco-kirkland-signature-spirits-whisky-scotch-pricing/I've done extensive research on where Costco sources their premium single malt and have read that article as part of my research. It's a tightly guarded secret and nobody knows for sure but I can report that the Kirkland 18 and 20 year taste surprisingly close to The Macallan. So my best guess is it's either from their distillery or one in the same general neighborhood. BTW, that's an old article. The 18 and 20 are bottled at 46% (92 proof) not 40% (80 proof) like the article states. Maybe they meant the blended whisky but the single malt is super premium stuff and outclasses 12 year Macallan which is the gold standard for Speyside (Highland) whisky.

An 18 year The Macallan will cost you $265. punchdrink.com/articles/how-costco-kirkland-signature-spirits-whisky-scotch-pricing/ "The geekiest factions of the online whiskey community can be particularly nasty, with insiders railing on “taters” (uninformed collectors) and lambasting the limited-edition releases they pursue. That makes it all the more surprising that, over the past year, there’s been a groundswell of support among geeks for the Kirkland Signature collection. These Costco house whiskies have likewise landed solid scores on Whisky Advocate and Wine Enthusiast of late; they even nabbed a top prize at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition. They’re cheap, too—whether it be a 1.75 liter of Canadian whisky for $20 or an 18 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish Highlands Scotch for $38.
It’s this downright impossible price that has the online geeks playing a guessing game as to not only where, exactly, these whiskies are coming from, but how Costco gets the prices—specifically on age-statement whiskies—so low."
Need I say more?
Whiskey is whiskey, boys and girls. This is kinda like people bragging about their super expensive guns that don't shoot any better than sensibly priced ones. "Look at me! I stupidly spent $200 for a bottle of stuff when Jack Daniels Black Label actually tastes better!"

Jack Daniels tastes like shit. That stuff is nasty. Kentucky bourbon all the way. Well they say it is almost gluten free. <shrug> But if you're gonna go gluten free, and you should, as should your spouse, you need to try Madison, Wisconsin's own Queen Jennie whiskey. Distilled from 100% Wisconsin sorghum. True confessions, I haven't tried it but my next trip to Madison, I just may.
