Most of the political discourse around here about the news of the day, or week, is limited to sound bytes and short-term implications.
And, I notice that such is the case with the drama surrounding the Senate hearing on Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the SCOTUS today.
But there is ample evidence that Kavanaugh's nomination is merely the latest chapter in the long-term plan of the Koch brothers and their various heavily-funded right wing think tanks -- Heritage, CATO, Federalist Society, etc.-- to take control of all branches of the tri-partite Federal government for the purpose of implementing their "misanthropic libertarian" roll-back of the New Deal.
To maintain control of the U.S. government, the Koch machine has to protect the 5-4 Citizens United SCOTUS ruling which wiped out a century of U.S. campaign reforms, and has permitted unlimited corporate and dark money funding of election advertising.
The Koch/GOP SCOTUS has also rolled back protections for U.S. voting rights and labor unions.
Kavanaugh, like Gorsuch, is part of this grand Koch strategy to preserve our current U.S. plutocracy.
The best scholarly analysis of this long-term Koch plan is Nancy McLean's award-winning book, Democracy in Chains.
But, I also want to post a few scholarly references about Kavanaugh's relationship with the Koch machine,* and his lengthy history as a Republicon Party hack.**
This is the reason that Trump and the GOP Senate conspired to withhold thousands of documents about Kavanuagh's history.

He can invoke the Clinton Initiative. Perjury is not grounds for removal. He'll have to register as a Democrat to become eligible, of course. If perjury is not grounds for removal, why did Newt "the Adulterer" Gingrich and Dennis "the Molester" Hastert vote to impeach Bill Clinton? You're contradicting your own troll dung, Dungkopf.
To explain, the Democrats in the Senate refused to remove Bill Clinton from office for perjury. Hence, Democrats implied perjury by a sitting president is not grounds for them to vote to remove him from office.
Thus, I jokingly stated that Judge Kavanaugh could invoke the Clinton Initiative, but he'd have to become a Democrat so the Democrats in the Senate would not vote to remove a fellow Democrat.
