      Interesting to read that Eugenio Paccelli (Pope Piux XII) was involved with the Vatican autocrats who first promulgated the deeply flawed doctrine of Papal Infallibility in 1871.

      In the traditional Church, no one was (or is) considered "infallible."  This late 19th century RC notion is foreign to Orthodox Christianity.  Men are all fallible.

     Two abstract thoughts for Muttley.

1)  The Pope preceding Pius XII formally condemned fascism (Naziism) as a heresy-- anti-thetical to Christian theology.  He was correct, because fascism is predicated on racism.

2)  Most "conservative" people in Germany (and Western Europe) in the 1930s viewed fascism as a defense against "Judeo-Bolshevism" -- the threat of atheistic communism in Russia.  Sadly, the fascists-- including some misguided "Christians" like Paccelli -- made a deal with the devil.

     True.  Nor would any true Christian have supported the atheistic Bolshevik regime that destroyed the Russian Orthodox Churches and monasteries of Holy Russia, and committed the worst genocide in world history, beginning after 1917.  It's the HUGE story that Hollywood never talks about.

But there was a wacky, popular "Protestant" best seller in the 1930s in Germany, in which the "Christian" (British) author claimed that Christ was the anti-Semitic son of an "Aryan" Roman soldier.  Go figure.

For any number of reasons, many supported, fought with and worked for the Nazi State who you wouldn't think would. The Church of Rome was a bit more active. In Finland you had Jews who fought w Nazi Germany against a common foe, The Soviets.
