Republicans changed the rules regarding subpeona powers within House committees, effectively eliminating the approval of the minority party ranking member. www.politico.com/amp/story/2018/10/28/house-republicans-subpoena-trump-943265With Democrats arguably poised to retake the House, are conservatives here comfortable with unilateral subpeona power of a Democratic majority going forward?

Seems like a bad move to me but thinking back on how much the dems/DOJ pretty much ignored what the committees wanted from them, how effective is this anyway?

Seems like a bad move to me but thinking back on how much the dems/DOJ pretty much ignored what the committees wanted from them, how effective is this anyway? At the very least, the process injected a small measure of partisan cooperation. The Republicans blew that off and went fishing for all sorts of ridiculous stuff looking for the "deep state". Now the Dems will have a chance to do the same thing, only this time, it will be the POTUS in their sights, not some ethereal Deputy Undersecretary of Deep State Affairs. I think it is a bad precedent, but the Repubs have set the table, just as HReid set the table for Senate confirmation votes. Now Pubs are going to have to eat shit, as Congress falls to yet another new low.

THAT is where you made your first mistake.
Your second mistake --- "Democrats eager to investigate the Trump administration if they seize the House ....... "
Why do you think THAT is more important than the business of running the country, which is what they were ELECTED to do? Democrat candidate: "Elect me and I PROMISE to start another Trump witch hunt and waste even MORE millions of your tax dollars." Smart. Very smart.

Democrats thrive on vindictiveness. How does it feel to know that Repubs set it up? That is the point of the thread.

Democrats thrive on vindictiveness. How does it feel to know that Repubs set it up? That is the point of the thread. It feels the same as knowing the Stupid Harry Reid Democrats changed the rules and Trump-appointed judges are getting approved by a simple Republican majority. You liked it when Dingy Little Harry did it. How do you like it now?
