I just read at Vox.com that Americans will be spending an estimated $96 billion on smart speakers-- Alexa, Echo, and Siri, etc. -- this holiday season.
Anyone here using these? Any reviews, preferences?

Any reviews, preferences? Yes, and I don't give a shit who is listening. Sometimes, I'll say Obama was the Liar In Chief just hoping to piss somebody off. True story: The default news on Amazon Alexa is NPR. Just so happens that I don't waste my time listening to NPR and haven't in about 15 years. I asked for Fox News Radio news updates and Alexa refused. When I asked, she explained that Fox News Radio was bad to listen to, my words, not hers. I asked several more times and then bluntly informed her that I didn't give a f-word what she or her programmers thought. On my next request, she gave me Fox Radio News. It's now my default news when I ask for a radio update. It matters not that I rarely listen to it, but I'll be damned before Amazon tells me what I can and can not listen to when I'm paying for the service. I sometimes have to get tough with Alexa to get what I want, but I always get it. I also don't give a shit if my residence is marked for bombing by far left winger liberals. It hasn't happened yet..... Williegirl, you'll love it. Amazon Alexa is right up your alley. You'll be able to get all of the liberal bat shit you want anytime you ask for it. BTW, I mainly use Alexas for weather, music, general questions, and to look up movies since I have Alexas synched with my Amazon 4K Fire Sticks for streaming television. It helps to be an Amazon Prime member which gives you access to tons of tv and music programming and apps over and above your streaming tv service. I use PlayStation Vue for streaming tv for a number of reasons. About 1 1/2 years ago, I cut my cable bill in half. That savings was too good to pass on. You learn to live with your 1.1 TB internet cap and you learn to use an appropriate app when a national broadcast has so many viewers that it interferes with reception, buffering. It's easier to watch some sporting events on the Watch ESPN app which requires you to sign in using your streaming tv provider. Very rarely do I get any buffering watching the ESPN app. This is more than you asked for, but so often as is the case, you didn't ask as simple of a question as others have indicated. |
