have to be pleased w/the split in boston, tho both games could have literally gone either way. you could tell both teams were pretty weary by the start of the 3rd period saturday night due to the physical nature of the games already.
1. who can help panerin? not too hard to see how magical this kid is with the puck on his stick, but he's really been the only effective offense when it comes to shots so far. duchene, who got the game winner in ot, atkinson, foligno, et al need to make their presence felt more the remainder of the series.
2. the real bob stands up. the guy we've seen as the stopper for 5+ years in the regular season is finally showing his stripes when it counts. he's been amazing.
3. jones getting his due. seth has been one of the best all-around defensemen in the nhl playoffs. you worry about depth on the backline still for the cbj re: injuries, but the rest of the hockey world is learning just how solid jones' talent is.
tuesday fans here get a new experience... home ice for a 2nd round playoff game. cool.

Not as flashy as a guy like Panarin but solid overall, especially on the PP. 2) I think Bobrovsky's struggles in previous years were more a lack of support than him playing poorly. No doubt he has stepped up his game, though. 3) The hockey world has always known about his talent, he just hasn't always lived up to the hype. Take the regular season, for instance, when he seemed to take a step back from his development as a player since the trade from NSH. All of those questions have been answered since Game 1 against Tampa Bay and he is no doubt one of the most valuable players so far in the playoffs given the minutes he is logging.

Marchand is at it again. Beyond the uncalled, gutless punch to the back of the head of Harrington, he takes a lazy penalty that puts the Jackets on the PP and they cash in. The guy is one of the most talented players in the league but his stupidity keeps him from taking the next step to greatness. I just don't get how a guy chooses to make a career out of being a complete asshole 100% of the time. Of course, the league won't do the right thing and suspend but that's another story for another day. Sigh...

Sigh... yeah he was certainly persona non grata for the rest of the series to jackets fans. unfortunately the cbj offense was persona non grata for 8 of the 9 periods of the final 3 games. tough to see, but the bruins were certainly the better club finishing it out. so all attention is now on the stars and their supposed impending departure from town. bob has his downtown condo up for sale (just $2.95m), john davidson is reportedly on his way to the rangers... you wonder if the door is closed for a couple years now in terms of post season success.

Is a series win, albeit in dramatic fashion, along with a re-energized fanbase enough to convince any of their UFAs to stay? You would think Dzingel being a local guy is a safe bet but after Torts benched him, you wonder what that relationship is like. Despite winning a good majority of the fans over late in the year you wonder if Bobrovsky being treated like crap by a lot of the fans for a long time can be overlooked. Probably not if his place is on the market. As for Panarin, he held them hostage all year and Duchene has hinted that he wants to be in Nashville so it could be a big mess. The players wants/desired aside, financially is it even doable? Duchene was the hottest name at the deadline last year and played well enough in Columbus to land a big contract. Panarin is certain to get even bigger bucks and a #1 goalie will always command a big contract. And let's not forget that McQuaid is a UFA, Werenski an RFA while the organization's top 3 goaltenders all need new deals (Korpisalo is an RFA, Kinkaid a UFA). Jarmo may have worked his magic at the deadline to give his town a boost for a couple of months but what he does or doesn't do this summer could very easily define that franchise for the next 4 or 5 years. And the LAST thing his bosses need is a dip in momentum. The fans probably won't care enough to stick with them if they continue to teeter around the 8 spot every year, much less miss the playoffs. Should be interesting.

Should be interesting. just my opinion... bob and bread were gone regardless of how the season went. panarin's actions on the ice following the end of game 6 seemed pretty final in terms of telling fans there goodbye. you'd hope the fan reax in the last 2 months could have an influence, but that's only in a fan's eyes/mind/heart. have more hope for dzingel and duchene... maybe seeing they could fill a void and raise their profile here w/the exit of panarin. ditto for korpisaio. getting all the talent that missed the end of the season on the blue line also would be a positive. if davidson leaves jarmo would likely take his place and that continuity would help too. but there's no immediate filling of the gap from your two most dynamic players leaving. nationwide was simply electric the last month. I was out of town and missed games 3 & 4 for the tampa series but got to see games 3 & 6 vs the bruins... that vibe is why there is nothing like the atmosphere live at a big time sports event, and this town got a taste of what it's like to win a series and actually see hope of a cup on the horizon... and loved it.

Never been to a World Series or Super Bowl but I have been to an Ohio State/Michigan game and even that doesn't come close to the experience I had during the '04 Cup run. Simply intoxicating.

Simply intoxicating. super bowl (would be nice if the browns were actually playing in it) and a certain golf tournament at augusta national would be nice bucket list items to cross off for me... but yes even just round 2 of the stanley cup, pro sports' most difficult trophy to win imho, was up there.
