I don't think he has enough starts/wins to take the Vezina but he is a lock for the Calder. Great season and the primary reason the Blues turned things around.

On to the Stanley Cup Finals after beating SJ tonight. V Boston, who they split, 2-2, w this year. Last place in the beginning of Ja. Gloria
St L needs a win to complete a sweep of the four major NA league champs.

Play Gloria. St L Blues evened the series w those hated Bruins w a 3-2 OT win in Boston. Back to St L w the series tied. A lot of heavy hitting and aggressive play. TODAY, they seemed to wear out the Bruins a bit. 1st Stanley Cup win ever for St L. Two close and entertaining games, played by two teams that are talented and tough.

Blues stunk it up in game 3 and many left them for dead. Oh my, great game four, in a must win sit rep. Physical series, physical game tonight, to say the least. Blues win 4-2, drive for the cup now tied and it's back to Boston for the start of a best of three series.

OK game 5 starts in minutes and the stadium is again sold out in St Louis to watch the game, being played in Boston, on the Jumbotron. BallPark Village, full of outdoor bars, next to the BB stadium, is packed, w flatscreens widely available. Cardinals game ended and folks stayed to continue their sports experience. Market Street, next to the hockey stadium, is packed. House parties throughout the area.

Oh my, ONE WIN from the CUP after beating Boston 2-1. Bennington stood on his head all night. 38 saves. Shots off the pipe all night by both sides. Great hockey game.

Game 6 Sunday night, in St Louis, with a chance to win the CUP. Who would have thunk that on Jan 2nd.

Binnington might just add the Conn Smythe to his trophy case if the Blues close this thing out. That said, they benefitted from a couple favorable non-calls last night. The head shot on Johnansson should probably have been a major on Barbashev then the trip of Acciari that leads directly to the Blues 2nd goal.

The Bruins have benefitted from poor officiating a lot in recent years so they have no room to cry foul but the refs certainly helped the Blues' cause last night.

He didn't do his team any favors by watching the GWG from his knee in the faceoff circle either.

Blues stunk it up again in game 6 so it's off to Boston for game seven. IN St Louis, the Enterprise Center will be sold out w 18,000 fans to watch the game on the jumbotron. AND 25,000 fans are expected at the Cardinals' Busch Stadium to watch the game on their big screen. Another 20,000 in Ball Park Village next door. Along w thousands on Market street plaza, next to the hockey venue. Win or lose it's been a fun run for the city and the Blues.

BLUES WIN THE CUP

With 19,000+, SRO, fans in the Blues home ice stadium and 25,000 sitting in Busch Stadium, both watching on jumbotrons, cheering their team, who was playing in Boston, THE BLUES beat the Bruins 4-1 to win THE Stanley Cup. Bennington was unbelievable stopping 32 of 33 Bruin shots. The put together a complete game. Only one 2 min penalty. 5-5 they are tough to beat.

St. Louis Blues Fans React to Game 7 Win in the Stanley Cup Finals in Boston w a SRO crowd at the home ice Enterprise Center in St Louis.

Why Gloria? Thank you Philly.

Radio stations are playing it nonstop and it is stuck in St. Louis Blues fans’ heads but why did the team choose ‘Gloria’ as its post game victory song?

Earlier this year, Laura Branigan’s song from the 1980s began playing in the locker room after the team’s wins.

Blues players Alexander Steen, Joel Edmundson, Robert Bortuzzo, Jaden Schwartz and Robby Fabbri were watching the Eagles/Bears NFC Wild Card game at The Jacks NYB in Philadelphia, in January, when a DJ played ‘Gloria’ during a commercial break.

“This one guy looked at the DJ and said 'keep playing Gloria!', so they kept playing it. Everyone would get up and start singing and dancing. We just sat back and watched it happen. Right there we decided we should play the song after our wins. We won the next game, we got a shutout, so we just kept on playing it,” Edmondson told stlouisblues.com.

As the Blues began their run to the Cup, The Jacks NYB became Blues HQ Philly and during the Cup series final, each game became a cause for a watch party at the club.

Side note: The voice behind the Blues victory song, Laura Branigan, had her last performance of that song  at the ‘10th Annual Festival Italia Unita’ on July 16, 2004 in the same town where the Blues made franchise history.................. Boston. She died a month later.
