National Day of Prayer 2019

Did you listen to President Trump's "Day of Prayer" speech, Thursday morning, May 2, 2019 in the White House Rose Garden? It is available on the internet. Also last year's speech on May 4, 2017 is on the internet.
Both speeches bring hope that the vice-regents of these United States of America might return to our nation's Judeo-Christian founding. Still, it is evident that Satanic forces are relentlessly attacking Christian influences.
It was wonderful to hear President Trump express thoughts as: "... the glory of God and the power of prayer ...;" & "When we open our hearts to faith, we fill our hearts with love." & "All children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God."
President Trump also said: "Every life is sacred, and every soul is a precious gift from Heaven. As the Lord says in Jeremiah [1:5] "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart."
A paragraph or so later President Trump said: "As Jesus promises in the Bible, 'Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete [John 16:24]' & "We are blessed to live in a land of faith where all things are possible. ... There could be no better way ... than ... by coming together in prayer."
In closing President Trump said: "Today and every day, let us pray for the future of our country. Let us pray for the courage to pursue justice and the wisdom to forge peace. Let us pray for a future where every child has a warm, safe and loving home. Let us come together for the good of our people, for the strength of our families, for the safety of our citizens, for the fulfillment of our deepest hopes and our highest potential. Let us always give thanks for the miracle of life, the majesty of creation and the grace of Almighty God. Thank you. It is an honor to be with you. God bless you, and God bless America. Thank you very much. Thank you."
I couldn't help but compare President Trump's 2018 and 2019 speeches to the past eight years during the Obama administration.
Obama toned down the National Day of Prayer on May 7, 2009. Tens of thousands gathered at various locations to observe our National Day of Prayer and they prayed to the God of the Bible. But the White House did not lead our nation in the event. The Obama Administration announced they will not have an observance in the White House. This countermanded a long held tradition.
Obama signed a proclamation each year, but did not hold an observance in the White House, but said he prays every day. Who does he pray to? Allah—if so, of course he must not pray publically. I've seen photos of Obama in Mosques. Under Obama, because of objections raised by some people, such as atheists (I’m sure Muslims too), observance of the day in the White House, as tradition had established, was canceled. During September 2009, Obama permitted an independently organized Muslim prayer service held beside the White House!
The tradition of a day of prayer dates back to 1775 when the Continental Congress designated a specific day to pray about the formation of our new nation. May 9, 1798 was declared “a day of solemn humiliation, fasting, and prayer” by then President John Adams. He asked citizens of all faiths to pray “that our country may be protected from all the dangers which threaten it.” This was during the Quasi-War with France.
President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation on March 30, 1863: “ Whereas, the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the Supreme Authority and just Government of Almighty God, in all the affairs of men and of nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation. And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. And, insomuch as we know that, by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now
desolates the land, may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole People?...”
The resolution concluded: “It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.
Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do, by this my proclamation, designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer. And I do hereby request all the People to abstain, on that day, from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite, at their several places of public worship and their respective homes, in keeping the day holy to the Lord, and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.
All this being done, in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the Divine teachings, that the united cry of the Nation will be heard on high, and answered with blessings, no less than the pardon of our national sins, and the restoration of our now divided and suffering Country, to its former happy condition of unity and peace.”
This day was first established in 1952 by then president Harry Truman, a democrat. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan signed a resolution that the National Day of Prayer be observed every year on the first Thursday in May. Since that time each president has recognized the day by signing a proclamation. White House observances were held under both Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. For the eight years under George W. Bush, the National Day of Prayer was observed with a White House event each year.
Remember, the Democratic Party has been hijacked and is not the same as in the days of President Kennedy. This is much more so since our last election. The internet gives examples; Trending News' is bringing up things Mr. Trump said before he was president, before he had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior; which he did during his campaign. He has since gathered Christian leaders to advise him.
But, you say, what about his worldly ways. Concerning this, Dr. James Dobson explained: "If anything, this man is a baby Christian who doesn't have a clue how believers think, talk, and act."
That was about two years ago. From President Trump's "Day of Prayer Speech," it is evident he is following the Lord and learning Christian values.
James Dobson said: "There are many Christian leaders who are serving on a faith advisory committee for Trump. I am among them. There are about 25 of us [in that group] that include Jerry Falwell, Jr., Robert Jeffress, Jack Graham, Ben Carson, James Robison, Michele Bachmann and many others whom you would probably know."
Scripture is teeming with stories showing God's mercy. This is what God showered on the U.S., giving us a president who is following Judeo-Christian biblical standards. America, make the most of this God given reprieve, and keep praying for our president.
