Donald Trump briefly visited the McLean Bible Church yesterday, en route to his golf course in northern Virginia.
He was wearing his golf hat and cleats, in a rare display of piety and mourning for the 12 people murdered Friday in another part of Virginia -- Virginia Beach.
The mega church pastor said a prayer for the POTUS before Trump quickly departed for the links.

But those victims were black, so f-word em, right?

Huh? Obama didn't sincerely mourn for gun-related homicides in the U.S.?
What planet have you been living on, LZ, Uranus?
Meanwhile, this is a thread about the first POTUS to wear cleats to church.
(He's also the first POTUS to get a mulligan from Evangelical leaders for grabbing women by the pussy.)

Or maybe secretly you do. Linking piety to a method of attire is misguided.

So, Cheese Burgher, let's properly frame your latest idiotic premise for the sake of argument.
"There is nothing impious about briefly dropping in on a Sunday church service in golf shoes with cleats, on the way to the links."
-- I.M. Cheese-Burgher
Anyone agree with Cheese Burgher?

Or let's look at it in a macro sense. Is piety related to what shoes or not, you are wearing or not? I'll say no. Is it related to the kind of sport coat/suit or slacks you wear? I'll say no. Or if you are wearing shorts, w a shirt? I'll say no. Or nothing, as is generally worn at a clothing optional resort (But bring a towel please)? I'll again say no. You like your "priest" in back robes, a black hat, sporting a beard. OK afaic, for you. You want to wear a dark suit or your church community requires it and you agree? <shrug> That's your business.
He was wearing rather expensive, I would presume, shoes, w some sort of integrated grips, that are often used in golf. Because I gave up golf and I had a pair that was rather expensive,I still wear them, primarily to a park concert I regularly attend. And now that I think of it, they had a church service last year that incl some EO type music/chanting, my wife wanted to attend. Lots of shorts, golf shirts and flip flops. No suits or ties. Were they less pious?

Obviously, this is, in part, a question about cultural and religious mores. There's a guy here in Denver who started some sort of marijuana "church," where people get together to get stoned.
What seems most impious, to me, about the Trump golf shoes news story is that it was a quick stopover during a golf outing.
He approached it like he was stopping by a 7-11 for a hot dog on the way to the links, as opposed to entering a House of God.
How hard would it have been for him to wear a pair of loafers, then change into his golf shoes at the club?

He could have but I don't see the difference. He obviously wears them outside the golf course. Maybe he changed to loafers to play.

I wore my golf shoes today and still played poorly. WTF?

I realize that to you dim morons, DJT APPEARS God-like, but he doesn't make that claim, nor do his supporters...
