As a New Englander, I do not have a clue what Yucca root taste like. I picked some up at the market today and I am looking for advise on it. Benefits, what does it go good with, and best seasonings? Suggestions and ideas are welcome.

Suggestions and ideas are welcome. My preference for yucca is fried. I wrap it in foil and bake it like a potato until it's tender to the core. then I chill it. Once chilled I peel it, slice it into wedges and fry it like potato wedges. However, yucca does have a stringy center to the root, so when you slice it go ahead and cut out any of the stringy sections.

Thanks, I like to try new foods and although the web is great for research, sometimes an honest opinion is the best. I will give this a shot.

i know this root very well. i like to peel it, cut it thick, and boil it. dogs like it a lot, too.
supermarkets often coat it with paraffin wax, so youll definitely want to remove that. it also can be peeled, boiled, grated, and then pressed and cooked to make it into casabe bread.
ive never fried it.
