Let’s hope. Many “revolutionary therapies” litter the dustbin of history. “Scientists have identified the Achilles' Heel of cancerous tumors, forcing the disease-spreading cells to over-stress and self-destruct. Experiments showed blocking a specific protein that fuels tumors kills them off. The technique worked on a range of human forms of the disease and mice with bowel and blood cancer. What's more there are already drugs that block the chemical called ATF4 - offering hope of the fast-tracking of a revolutionary therapy…” www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-7201205/Cancer-breakthrough-Scientists-discover-Achilles-Heel-tumors-causes-self-destruct.html Cancer breakthrough: Scientists discover a new Achilles' Heel of tumors that causes them to self-destruct - and we already have a drug that can target it The technique worked on a range of human forms of the disease and mice with bowel and blood cancer The team at the University of Pennsylvania report the finding in a new study published today There are already drugs that block the chemical called ATF4 - offering hope of the fast-tracking of a revolutionary therapy

Thumbs up on the first sentence. The second sentence not so much. I can't see any doctors taking that attitude. Pharma?... maybe some.. who sell the treatment chemos.. but def not an overall attitude of let them die so we get rich.

While there is ample evidence that docs will milk the system for money, there is not any evidence that docs would deliberately make a patient sicker to make money.

As more & more doctors are not American, and many coming from ANTI-American countries, you'll start seeing more & more of it...Start with all those 'scripts for narcotics. Most of those big busts have had severals Patels & Alis & Kims....

Geez... I've rarely known a more ethical group of physicians than some of the docs I've known from places like India, China, Korea, and Iran.
I've had good medical school and physician friends from all of those countries over the years-- very good people.
As for hematology/oncology docs, the only complaint I've ever heard is that some of them "hate cancer more than they love their patients."

My wife and mother both have. The carolinas is in the bottem 5 in the country in health care. Im sure the care in cali is much better but we have had horrible care here from crooks trying to pad their bank accounts. My wife recieved such a horrible reconstruction in Chareleston, she had to go to Nola for 2 surgeries to correct the mess left by a witch doctor there. I could go on and on, boils to greed.

I'm sorry to hear that, CB. Yes, I've had family members go thru cancer and you're right, the quality of care is probably better out here overall.

In my experience, in every field there are 10 percent who are truly gifted at what they do, 70 percent who can do the job acceptably well and 20 percent who should not be in the field at all.

I'm scheduled for a CT and MRI in February, to check progression of the disease. I called and asked if there might be a treatment plan that I haven't been told of. No Chemotherapy IV or swallow is offered. So again I asked the purpose of the tests. "they want to see". who is they? The doctors who ordered it, the hospital that does it, and of course the pharma used. Quite a few people involved when one starts counting. to get an answer for which they have no treatment options. So the Insurance company will pay for their portion, leaving me with about $6,000 out of pocket. The hospital will give the DR a little kick back, the pharma will give the Dr a little kick back, and two days later the Dr gets paid for his office visit to tell me I have stage 4 lung cancer that has spread through out my body. and that visit will be $60.00 out of pocket. $60 is 20 percent of what? Eisenhower warned us of the Military Industrial Complex who warned us of the medical industrial complex?
