Long aware of the issues with chamber considerations for the two rounds. All my rifles are chambered to shoot either round.

An interesting aside to add is that almost all Mini-14's are actually the NATO chambering even though the roll mark says .223 Rem... Only the Mini-14 Target model is actually chambered for .223 and 5.56 should never be fired in that rifle. "One note for the Target model: while other Minis will shoot either 5.56x45mm NATO or .223 Remington, the Mini 14 Target Rifle version accepts .223 Remington cartridges exclusively. The Mini 14 Target rifle is optimized for accuracy via the use of optical sights so it can provide a five-shot group of one-and-a-half inches or less at 100 yards, which is very accurate for its intended purpose."BTW, I can hit one-and-a-half inches or less at 100 yards all day long with my modified/optimized Ranch Rifle with 2-7x33 Redfield Revolution scope. Plus mine is much prettier.

Yours is black plastic Mattel™ toy gun ugly. Mine is wood and steel purty. FACT.And CLEAN. I admit I'd love to have a wooden stock for mine, but I'm not gonna spend that kind of money just for a cosmetic change.
Now go get yourself a wood and steel AR. They are ALL Mattel plastic. No manly options with them at all.
Even AK's are manlier than AR's.
