This should be interesting. I'm guessing that it will end up something like a calzone except in the form of a pie? IT does have tomatoes, spices and cheese...so I guess it'll be like a calzone....with no meat! I like a bit of fresh horseradish with regular tomato soup. Can't wait to hear how it comes out and your thoughts! |

Can't find it !!! Unfortunately due to the high security of fresh horseradish I am going to require a first class plane ticket. Due to circumstances beyond my control it may be best if you send me that said ticket with no lay overs. Lay overs may occur after the horseradish arrives safely. Depends on what comes along. This is an undercover assignment and will require the utmost tender care. Should you fail this mission, you will Suffer grave pulsating punishment. |

I got a new assignment from P.V. Publishing today. Sherry Gore has a new pie cookbook coming out in '13 and she wanted me to work up a recipe she got for...get this..."tomato pie". My initial read through on the recipe left me wondering a bit about it. It's an Amish recipe but the spices made me think Italian. Hmmm. This pie is meant to be a side-dish..... I'll let you guys know how it turns out...and I'll include pics of my work. Well I completed my assignment, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The recipe, generally, was a pie crust (scratch, of course), sprinkled with onions, then chopped tomatoes, then a cheese layer consisting of 1/2 Cheddar, 1/2 Mozz, some mayo and a teaspoon of Frank's (I put that #$&# on everything!) Hot Sauce, then baked for 45 minutes. It was really good. We also played with add-ins. Ham & Swiss, Parmesan and pepperoni with black olives, browned seasoned ground beef all were quite good. It could be eaten as a side dish in the original recipe or as a meal with the meat add-ins.  |
