kinda surprised me that the ncaa acted so quickly. must have figured it was inevitable regardless of how they might try to counter it. I think the landscape of college sports, especially the 2 majors, is going to change. even tho you have to share the revenue w the kids who are playing in some way, directly or indirectly as this rule will allow, I still this it’s going to create an even wider gulf between to haves and have nots if football/hoops, including within the power 5 leagues, as well as erode a little more the emotional connections fans/alums have with the programs. jmo

I'm curious to see if the bigger schools are going to use this as a recruiting tool. Telling the kids we can market you better and get you more money now. A lot of people are seeing this as the start of something bad for college sports.

Heard an interesting take by Senator Burr, who claimed that if the students were going to be quasi-professionals, then the tuition for those who accept endorsements should be seen as taxable income.

Load of crap imo. Every other student on an academic scholarship is free to make money over and above without the scholarship being taxed.

Well you didn't think that if the school was funded in any way by the state. That they wouldn't want their cut

You mean like working at Burger King, or did you mean making money off their fame from being on scholarship in Chemical Engineering by selling autographs and Erlenmeyer flasks?
