how in the hell did gallant get canned????

2 years ago he takes vegas to the nhl finals.. in their first year of existence. last season he takes them back to the playoffs. this year's club was in first place a week ago, and right now is just 3 points out of the top spot.... and ownership decides it's time for a change? absolutely unreal.

There has to be more to the story. Deboer wasannounced almost immediately so while the team is saying it is hockey related, it doesn't add up.

In last year's playoffs, Gallant called DeBoer a “clown”. Fast forward 9 months and Gallant is replaced by DeBoer. Ironic. Then there is this... Former Panthers coach Gerard Gallant replaced by former Panthers coach Peter Deboer, who was just replaced in San Jose by former Panthers coach Bob Boughner. LOL

Sometimes the simplest answer is the one closest to being correct. They, owner and mgt, expected more this year, in their opinion, saw a downward trend and pulled the trigger. They think they have Cup material that is under performing. Worked for The Note last year. Maybe again.

Maybe but that has never been McPhee's MO as GM, unless someone higher than him pulled the strings on this one. Always possible.
