I've occasionally used low dose CBD/THC candy bars for neck spasms and low back pain. (I prefer the local Godiva style chocolate bars.)
Works like a charm, and also enhances my enjoyment of movies and music.

Walt, thanks for the new boards. I will jump right in (pun intended) and ask if anyone has any recommendations on relieving joint pain, specifically in the knees. I have had issues in the past with various pulls or strains causing pain but this feels different. I am very active lifting weights, jogging and playing volleyball but now I notice a difference in the pain based on the weather so I am assuming it is joint-related. Any home remedies or supplements anyone recommends? I also have knee pain from crawling around under houses for the past 20 years. My wife is very much into natural supplements after her cancer struggles So she has done tons of research on various Products That are natural with little if any side effects. I've tried several different things including apple cider vinegar and turmeric powder for my arthritis in my knees but what I have found that works the best is a product called diatomaceous earth or DE for short. This stuff cost very little and works great for my arthritis pain. It also has other health benefits such as help in lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diatomaceous_earthIve used DE but for killing fleas. Their are 2 grades. reg. and food grade.

I live with knee pain, but seldom does it really get to me. When it does, a good book and a hot hot tub of water work great for me. Helps with my chronic lower back pain too. My body laughs at OTC painkillers. We all have different pain thresholds, so what might work for one guy might not work for you.
Age is also a factor, and there's not much you can do about that. Every body has an expiration date.
Part of back pain is the muscles in the back, particularly in the lower band being sore from having spasms, both large and small and not being stretched (ie sitting for long periods). IN CANADA, ibuprofen mixed w Methocarbamol is OTC $12 for 160 caps at Costco, under the Kirkland Brand. Essentially, a muscle relaxant and analgesic. Here, Metho is a script only item. If you know someone going there, it's a cheap alternative that may work for you, if you have an event that is more than mild.

I don't remember exactly what year except that it was after I became a cop, and it snowed while I was recovering. My wife was scared I would go out and slip in the snow and hinder my recovery. Basically I have just learned to live with it. I have had prescription muscle relaxers, but they don't work on spinal problems. I'm sure demerol or morphine would work. No thanks. My wife was on morphine pills for her amputation-related pain, and she was becoming dependent on them, so she quit taking them.
IIRC, the surgeon removed the disc, which had been ruptured so long it had calcified, and didn't replace it with anything, so there is no cushion between those two vertebrae any more.

Well, shit! That explains a lot. No wonder you're so damn cantankerous.

I used CBD for a while a couple of years ago. It was amazing at first, literally turned the pain in my knee off in about ten minutes. Over the course of a few months, it gradually became less effective even as I raised the dosage. It was a nice alternative during the time I was weaning myself off of Oxycodone though. My greatest problem was developing A Fib during a case of cellulitis earlier that summer. As a result of that little bit of joy I now take Eliquis twice a day, which makes regular use of NSAID's a no no. I am allowed to take one single dose of Motrin, if needed, as long as I have a full four to five days between doses. I usually reserve this for days when the pain is worse so that I can sleep better. Outside of that, I get the arthritis strength Tylenol, 650 mg per tablet, and take two of them before bed. I then saturate my knee with spray on Icy Hot. I use ice packs and the spray Icy Hot during the day as needed. It works for my and my left knee is pretty bad. I need to lose another fifteen to twenty pounds and get the damn thing replaced.

Thanks for the additional info. In all of the years I played sports growing up and in my 20s, I used Bengay and Sportscreme quite a bit yet for whatever reason, I never thought to use something like that as I got older. I have been asked to play in a 2-man beach volleyball tournament next month so I will give the Icy Hot a try. Out of curiosity, how long does the relief last?

But I drench my knees in it. I've use the balm, the roll on and the spray and I get the best results with the spray. I buy it by the four pack from Amazon on a regular basis.

Ive used DE but for killing fleas. Their are 2 grades. reg. and food grade. Yes, it has many uses. Obviously the food-grade is the type you take for joint pain. Old comment but I wanted to note I use food grade DE to control ants outside around the house. Anytime you put DE where cats or dogs could get into it go ahead and use food grade for their safety.
