They definitely have not been very forthcoming. The news comes a day after Dr. Deborah Birx, response coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force, suggested that the U.S. response to the pandemic may not have been as effective as possible due to “missing” data from China. “The medical community interpreted the Chinese data as, this was serious, but smaller than anyone expected,” Birx said at a press briefing. “Because, probably…we were missing a significant amount of the data, now that we see what happened to Italy and we see what happened to Spain.” China could have prevented 95 percent of coronavirus infections if it had acted sooner to stem the outbreak, according to one study. U.S. officials and lawmakers have repeatedly accused China of covering up the extent of the outbreak. On Tuesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged fellow nations to be transparent about the information they share regarding the coronavirus. “I would urge every nation: Do your best to collect the data. Do your best to share that information,” Pompeo said. “We’re doing that.” 101 Senator Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) has repeatedly claimed that China was underreporting cases of coronavirus. Cotton argued in a January 28 letter to Pompeo and Health Secretary Alex Azar that the Trump administration should ban travel from China, in part because China was not reporting the extent of the epidemic. “As of [Tuesday] morning, China has reported that the Wuhan coronavirus has infected more than 4,500 people and killed more than 100,” Cotton wrote. “But the real number is likely far higher — perhaps in the hundreds of thousands — given the Chinese Communist Party’s long history of covering up and minimizing these crises.” The Chinese lied and the WHO gave them cover. We will never know the real numbers in China.

It's, in the opinion of some, why Italy and Spain were hot spots initially. They hooked their falling economies to China, who infiltrated their people into the cities. Many of whom were already infected. Along w the reasons many suggest why they were, from a demographic, susceptible.
We may find out eventually through word of mouth that over 500,000 were killed. Or we may not. But it's clearer today that they've been burning dead bodies 24/7. "...clearer today..."? Link?

Link? www.businessinsider.com/wuhan-residents-say-chinese-government-coronavirus-death-toll-is-low-2020-3One of many reports. All will not have concrete facts. Perhaps none. I get that. Will we, the world, ever know the breadth and depth of destruction in China? Probably not. In the world? Probably not. If you piecemeal unofficial reports, the number seems to suggest a much higher figure than the official reports. Much higher. Is 500,000 a hyperbole? Perhaps so but to prevent another event............. Will the next POTUS react more progressively? Probably. Will the Chin.gov react more honestly, we hope. Hindsight, as I've said, is a greater teacher.
Does it really matter? (The number) Perhaps in part, to the extent that we encourage the Chin.gov to take steps to dramatically reduce the possibility of another world-wide epidemic. In part. Lest you think that's a duh statement, this isn't their first rodeo.

Getting back on track, I got a Facetime call today from my aunt. She looked in excellent shape, her speech was excellent, and she seemed no more confused than is normal. The nurse who was handling the phone for her was gowned, masked and capped like she was heading in to assist in brain surgery.
Looks like they are doing everything possible to keep things under control.

My wife had to go back into the hospital to deal w an infection following her BC surgery. I dropped her off and picked her up two days later. All turned out well. A night's IV antibiotic, some intrusive surgery the next day, more IV antibiotic the next day and she was good to go, awaiting only some final culture tests. Which were negative. I had to drop off some things the second night, which required me to stand off outside and give the bagged items to someone protected from head to toe, who bagged them, who then handed the bag off to someone, who then handed it off.......... She got it an hour plus later. No problem. It's the times we live in. The following day, because she didn't bring a wallet, I had to go through a complete check to get her pharmacy med. I guess I could have gotten my RX to deliver them the next day but I just rolled w it. Or had she just called me for the number.............. But she was understandably distracted.

Yeah, it's definitely weird right now.
Hope all goes well and she is back to normal quick!
When we went to Subway yesterday, there were X's on the floor to designate where each customer should stand. I didn't bring my tape measure, but it looked close to a 6 foot separation.

Yeah it's weird.
You can't even have proper funerals right now.
Makes you wonder how many bodies are on ice waiting for better days.
I wonder how many mass cremations China has had that they aren't telling anyone about. A spokesman for the Italian government said their facilities were unable to keep up with all the cremations from Covid-19 deaths.
Pardon the gross humor, but a German said, "Hold my beer."
