Does the NBA and/or Does the NHL

Opt to combine the current suspended seasons w next years, whenever they opt to resume play, assuming they can resume play late summer/early fall? Or even if they start late fall/ early winter? They suspend their drafts and play w what they have, keeping open new normal trade deadlines? No shortage of available talent.

This has got to be killing all those 'limited window' professions like pro sports.
Ones body doesn't get a do-over from father time.

The NHL will hold their draft regardless of when play resumes. Hypothetically, if they skip the draft, there is nowhere for some of the players to play next year unless they go back to Juniors as an overage player but under current rules, teams can only have 3 overage players on their roster. Beyond the risk of the top prospects getting hurt, it would complicate next year's draft by having twice the eligible players so I don't believe that was ever considered. The only thing the NHL has mentioned being canceled is the combine.
