Why? He fired one shot and the gun jammed. He is lucky one shot is all he needed. Not only did he use a non-factory slide, but he also has no idea how to clear a stovepipe jam. Check the 9:00 mark.
NEVER use anything but a factory issue gun for self defense, as far as the workings are concerned.

Watch this cop clear a jam. Of course the reporters are clueless about what they see.

"Drops the clip and reloads" These are the same ass holes who tell us all about guns, their parts and how the function. And that only the cops should have them. smh

Yes, she did very well, but she should NEVER have allowed him to grab her weapon. A quick circular motion of her forearm would have caused him to miss, and wouldn't pull the gun off target a whole lot either. Cops as a whole really need to be taught some basic martial arts. Being able to move properly can save lives.
And that's a self-defense lesson to be learned. If someone has a semiauto that close to you, and you figure you are going to be shot, go ahead and grab the gun around the slide, while you are moving it away from you. The gun will most likely fire, but only once.
If it's a revolver, grab the cylinder and/or try to put your finger BEHIND the trigger inside the trigger guard. If it's a revolver with the hammer cocked, you are pretty well fycked.

And that only the cops should have them. smh The only thing the reporter got right is that her first shots either missed, or were ineffective. A hit to a non-vital area is not going to stop a determined attacker. The first cop, even though he used an altered gun, at least took his one shot and placed it effectively. And even though that guy was dead on his feet, he STILL managed to grab his chest and take a step or two before falling. The only instant stop is to the brain stem.

She's damn lucky she wasn't seriously injured. I look at the 21 foot rule as TOO close.

She's damn lucky she wasn't seriously injured. I look at the 21 foot rule as TOO close. She reacted well. He took her by surprise. The first big mistake she made was not sidestepping him. That gave him a straight path towards her without having to slow his momentum. Again, all cops should have at least some basic training in martial arts. Nowhere is it written that you have to be a stationary target for the bad guy.
