Fauci denounces ‘flawed study’ on hydroxychloroquine touted by Trump
July 31, 2020
Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-diseases expert, gave a forceful denunciation at a House subcommittee hearing Friday of a study — touted by President Trump — that claimed the drug hydroxychloroquine has saved the lives of coronavirus patients. Scientists have widely criticized the study, conducted by Detroit’s Henry Ford Health System.
Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.) raised the study as evidence of the drug’s efficacy; earlier in the hearing, Fauci had said hydroxychloroquine has been shown to have “no therapeutic efficacy” with the coronavirus, echoing other top health officials.
“That was a flawed study,” Fauci responded. Luetkemeyer countered that the study had been peer reviewed.
“You can peer review something that is a bad study,” Fauci responded. “It was not a randomized, placebo-controlled trial — which is the gold standard.”
He pointed out that many of the patients receiving hydroxychloroquine were also taking steroids and that another study shows the steroids are what actually prevented deaths. No randomized studies have shown hydroxychloroquine to be effective, he said.

Didn't forget anything. When it came out, I said the news about the Henry Ford study was positive. Which it was. Never said it was a cure, or anything similar. Any idiot knows after reading the story that further study would be needed to verify results. In fact, that's just what the study's author said. But, you're not just any idiot. You're the lying sack of shit Ivy League Idiot.
