It's cold in North Alabama this weekend so I'm making a big pot of venison chili. I'll have a couple of bowls tonight with Fritos and extra sharp cheddar cheese and put the rest in the freezer for later. Should have enough for about six meals, then I'll make more. My son-in-law always stocks me up with ground venison when he harvests deer during hunting season.

I love chili with fritos and sharp cheddar, hold the deer meat , I'll use ground Turkey or beef and it has to be spicy I don't go much into the chip section of the market so I could be wrong, but I don't think they sell Fritos out here anymore. I liked them as a kid, though and I remember having them on chili. There's a Frito Lays plant in Charlotte, when they cook that stuff, the air stinks for miles around that place. Love em though

I don't go much into the chip section of the market so I could be wrong, but I don't think they sell Fritos out here anymore. I liked them as a kid, though and I remember having them on chili. There's a Frito Lays plant in Charlotte, when they cook that stuff, the air stinks for miles around that place. Love em though I tell ya what stinks, and it's from an unexpected source. Marijuana farms. Holy crap! Smells like a weird, mutant, dead skunk convention. Ironically, the stink may lead to more calls to outlaw cultivation via zoning codes than the effects of the weed itself.

It's cold in North Alabama this weekend so I'm making a big pot of venison chili. I cook it up in a saucepan and don't have to drain off any added water and no fat. I cooked up about 2 1/2 pounds of venison and simply dumped it all in the pot. Added 2 quarts of tomatoes from this summers garden that we canned, some cayenne peppers and chili peppers we dried from the garden and ground up, and some other spices, and cooked it all slowly for about 12 hours before sampling.
