Worrisome story on HuffPost today about the so-called Bt toxin in Monsanto's genetically-engineered, insect-resistant corn-- widely consumed in the U.S. and Canada since the 1990s.

The Bt toxin is apparently quite prevalent in human blood samples, and may cause health problems in humans, including destruction of normal gut flora and autoimmune diseases...

GMOs are a tremendous concern to me personally. There's virtually no testing on the long-term effects of GMOs on us or the food chain. Worse still, GMO's are genetically dominant species which readily interbreed with naturally occurring species of flora and fauna and threaten to eradicate the natural forms. Plus, there's the legal issues. Monsanto will plant GMO corn in a field next to a farmer growing non-GMO corn, then they'll buy some of his corn for seed to show that the offspring has their legally protected genetic version and they'll sue him for theft if he doesn't pay licensing fees for selling "their" corn. It's shabby and dishonest....and legal.
