To require the safe storage of firearms and ammunition, and to require the investigation of reports of improper storage of firearms or ammunition.

Sounds like a ruse to disarm people with E. German style ratting out your neighbor paranoia.
We already have a law here requiring the locking up of firearms if there are any minors in the house. Not even sure if they made it 100% of the time, minors or not.
There's even rumblings of a 100% ban on lead ammunition AND anyone possessing large amounts of ammunition can be charged as a terrorist.

The craziness is escalating. Could end very badly if they keep pushing people into smaller and smaller boxes.

Requiring someone to buy a product they can't afford in order to stay out of jail is nothing short of dictatorial.

I believe most manufacturers are supplying free gun locks with purchases of new guns, but NO ONE is supplying free gun safes for collectors with more than 3 or 4 guns.

Let Jackson-Lee (LOVE that double Confederate/Rebel name!!) give me and every other collector in the United States a FREE gun safe to store all my weapons in (OK, not ALL -------- you are NOT going to disarm me in my own home), and I will happily use it.

You can't prove you are following that law unless you allow the enemy inside your residence to verify that you are following said law.

It allows for illegal searches and seizures.

"(e) Investigation of reports of improper storage of firearms or ammunition.—Beginning with the effective date of the amendments made by this section, the Attorney General, through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, shall investigate all reports that a person is improperly storing a firearm or ammunition."

So if a person "reports" you are doing something "wrong" (with no evidence) the AG, through an anti-gun BATFE, can invade your sanctuary and pry at will.

What gets me is according to this "law" . If I discharge a weapon, say I fire a warning shot at an intruder, even if I don't hit them just discharge the weapon. If they say I didn't have the weapon and ammo stored properly. I can go too jail for 20 years. plus if I read it right ammo and the weapon have to be stored separately in a safe APPROVED by the AG. Does that mean I have to have 2 safes? I'm sure an intruder will wait while I unlock 2 safes to get and load my weapon.<eye roll>

First off, NEVER fire a warning shot.  That bullet you just fired has to end up somewhere, and we don't want it hitting an innocent person or putting a hole in somebody's car a half mile away.

Secondly, this an attack on poor people's rights to self defense.  IF they can afford a gun and a few rounds of ammo, they sure can't afford safes to put them in.  This "law" will only make it safer for criminals to do what THEY do.

The NRA, ACLU, and several other responsible, citizen-oriented organizations will never allow this bill to become law.
