Had a old Colt revolver that i had my young boys shoot in the basement, using wax bullets and shot shell primers. Damn I wonder what ever became of those cases? Had 18, as I recall. They'd have to seat the wax bullet, press the primer in, load the revolver and slowly shoot. Accurate enough and they learned the basics of safe handling, at a young age. And cleanup was a breeze. I did that a long time ago too, until I learned that if you don't enlarge the flash hole, the primer would sometimes back out and lock up the cylinder. And once you do that, you can't use the modified cases for full power rounds.
NEVER think those wax rounds are "safe!" I learned the hard (painful) way. Never had that problem w the Trooper.

Extra cheese and a worn out notch. When the notch is worn, replace the hammer. The slide notch, dork.

Normally when a round is fired, the entire case is pushed back into the recoil shield, which ensures the primer can't back out of the case. With powderless rounds, there's no energy to force the case back, and a loose primer pocket can allow the primer to slide backwards. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happened enough to piss me off.

When the notch is worn, replace the hammer. The slide notch, dork. I wonder how long it would take for that to happen on a good gun that is not fired constantly like a comp gun? I've never had a worn slide stop notch on ANY of my pistols.
