OK, so here we are 9 hrs later and its daylight...I must admit I didn't sleep too well thinkin about heatin the outdoors,,,,,,STILL, things seem to be coming along nicely The 1/8" sliced cuts are (so far) PERFECTLY tender and I'd say about 80-85% done...... I flipped them over and will put them back in window for probably another 4 hours ......Lookin like tasty SUCCESS !!!!

'61, that's dang near the funniest cooking technique I've seen in years! Does make sense, though. Just goes to show you.....it's not "necessity" that's the mother of invention....it's man's stomach!

'61, that's dang near the funniest cooking technique I've seen in years! Does make sense, though. Just goes to show you.....it's not "necessity" that's the mother of invention....it's man's stomach! Thanks bro, but I gotta give all the credit to Alton Brown/ Food Network .....I don't have a dehydrator and my smokers don't really do very well at low, low temp....I tried using it and it just totally fucked up the jerky and turned it to leather......SOOOOO, I went to Foodnetwork.com and typed in beef jerky ....sure enuff, a video pops up with Alton Brown showin me how its done ....I followed his simple instructions and success.....Just goes to show how koolio important it is when you try out recipes and give real-world feedback to authors and such that you do 99 ....... Time here now: 9:45 am saturday....The jerky has been on since 11 pm last night....a few more hours and that should do it....I'll post fotos of finished product

U BET and I got pics 2 prove it !!!! Itz noon here and half the batch is done !!! YES !!! You guys really should give this a try...It's certainly not the cheapest way to go but the flavors you can create are amazing

I like flank steak for jerky but it's so damn expensive. Cost me $30 for 3-1/2 pounds I used in my chili.
