Pretty good clip. Hard to believe how misinformed some people are. Also hard to believe that almost 90% of the media stories on Covid have been negative.

This Bill Maher monologue isn't science.  It's politics.  

If you parse what Bill Maher is saying here, from a scientific perspective, it's a nothing burger.

Case in point.  His argument about blue states being reluctant to re-open schools despite low COVID risks for children fails to take into account the risks of COVID transmission by asymptomatic children to higher risk adult contacts.

Another blathering point for Maher is about the perceived risk of hospitalizations for people infected with COVID.

It's true that many Democrats overestimate the risks of hospitalization, but the risks of hospitalization and death remain quite significant-- as do the risks of mutation to deadlier forms of the disease in exposed, unvaccinated Republicans who watch Fox News and support idiots like Trump and DeSantis.

The bottom line is that the morbidity and mortality risks are real, and we need to base our policy decisions on expert medical advice-- not propagandists.

A third blathering point for Maher is about the fact that sunshine, warmer climates, and outdoor activities are correlated with a lower risk of COVID transmissions.  Duh.

But Maher, like Harry, fails to grasp the scientific implications of that fact for the differential rates of COVID infection and mortality in northern and southern states.

Instead, the hairy chickens are using that risk variable (climate) to blame Democrats for higher rates of COVID in New York and New Jersey

And where is Maher's commentary about DeSantis firing award-winning statistician Rebekah Jones in order to suppress his COVID death stats?

Addendum:  I don't watch T.V., but I've noticed in recent months that a lot of people at the Democratic Underground forum have stopped watching Bill Maher's Real Time on HBO-- claiming that Maher has gone over to the dark side, pushing GOP disinformation, etc.   It seemed odd to me, (although I have known for years that Maher supported the Neocon wars in the Mid East.)

         HBO is owned by Warner Media, which is owned by the Dallas-based corporate media behemoth AT&T.

         In April of 2020, AT&T appointed former Republicon National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie to a position as Senior Vice President of External and Legislative affairs.*

         Not sure what impact Gillespie has had on HBO programming, if any, but I certainly wonder if Bill Maher's corporate bosses have influenced his recent programs.

         One thing is obvious-- the GOP moguls in the U.S. corporate media, especially Rupert Murdoch, have been fluffing Ron DeSantis as Trump's GOP successor.

         Bill Maher now appears to be participating in the GOP's DeSantis fluffing campaign.
