Is it 23 including a spare mag?

Here's my rig. 17 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 230gr.

I carry the Glock 30 with a G21 magazine.  That's 13+1 ready to go.

I carry a spare G21 mag, so that's 13 more.

13+1+13 = 27.

If that's not enough to either neutralize a situation or allow me to extricate myself to a safer location, I am definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I'm not a cop any more.  It is not my job to capture the bad guy now.  It's only my duty to protect myself and other innocent people from him.  If I shoot and down him, or he runs away, my job is done, other than keeping him covered till the cavalry shows up.   But if keeping him covered jeopardizes MY safety, i.e. a large angry mob of the thug's pals start gathering, I am out of there, and will talk to the cops somewhere safer.

I saw a good message on carrying concealed on a Youtube video.

It basically said that just because you are armed, you still should not go out and try to put yourself in harm's way.

DON'T advertise that you are carrying.  If the bad guys want your gun, they will find a way to put you in a situation where you are at a huge disadvantage.

The gun is the LAST RESORT, something that the D.C. cop who murdered Ashli Babbitt did not understand.

Short answer: I carry 27 .45ACP JHP's.  A mix of brands.

Cool. I could add another mag with another 8 rounds. I have an IWB double mag carrier but it's too cumbersome so I just use the single pocket carrier. With my 9mm SIG Pro I have 31 rounds total including a single pocket mag carrier. Gold Dot 124gr +P in that one. Even though the P220 is a full size it's actually easier to carry than the semi-compact SIG Pro because it's thinner, both holster and pocket mag carrier.

Living so close to the Demoncrat controlled hellhole named Baton Rouge, I'm not so sure about my chances, but I still have that cop mentality and situational awareness.

Of course, there are many nights when I forget to lock the front door, but with my pitbull burglar alarm and a loaded Glock on the night stand, I really don't worry about it.

I have decided to swap over to a 7 round mag in the firearm. A little less bulky.

That little bit won't make any difference.  If the mag at the top gives you an extra round, use it.
Try them both under your usual clothing and ask someone if they can see any difference.  My money is on "no."

Ok Mutt, I've flip-flopped and gone back to the 8 round mag with plastic baseplate. The metal baseplate on the standard 7 round mags sticks out and damages anything in comes in contact with... chairs, walls, doorknobs, etc. All my 7 round mags remain fully loaded in the safe.

I like the extra grip length that a G21 mag in a G30 frame gives me.  In a concealed carry weapon, I am more concerned about barrel length then I am grip size, although I have carried a HUGE S&W Model 645 under just a T-shirt.   That was my standard concealed carry for several years right after I retired.   I think it was the only centerfire handgun I owned in 2007.
I simply wear a T shirt one size larger than my actual size.

Honestly, after these years of carrying the G30, if I had to do it again, I would have simply bought the G21.   There is really not that much difference in size in them for practical purposes.

I went back to the 8 as mentioned above. I buy shirts and t-shirts that are extra long big and tall sizes even though I don't actually need a big and tall size. They're perfect for concealed carry. I generally wear t-shirts that are size XL anyway even though size L is what fits me.

Like I said, whatever hardware you carry is your choice.  Even a .22 is better than nothing.

My P220 is a full size pistol. At 8" overall length it's only 1/2" less than a 645, and has a 4.4" barrel vs. a 5" barrel in the 645. The 5.5" height of the P220 might even be more than a 645 but I'm not sure.
