I finally found some affordable .45ACP JHP's! I bought 100 Hornady XTP 230 grainers online for $27.95 and 100 185gr XTP's locally for $34.00. I'll be loading these up close to max for social purposes, and continue to use ball ammo for practice and qualification.
The local reloading supply place had NO primers, and it looked like maybe 100 lbs. of various powders. Thankfully I have primers and powder.
My factory JHP .45ACP's are becoming elderly................ hell, I still have some Silvertips from the 80's! I'm sure they are still fine, but it's nice to have some fresh-hatched ammo too.

"...social purposes" I like that.
A thug tends to become quite social when looking at a .45 caliber muzzle, or when punctured by a .45 caliber bullet.
What I like about the XTP's is that they are engineered to expand even at muzzle velocities as low as 700FPS.

Awesome sauce. I have some boxes of Hornady factory XTP rounds in .45acp bought around 10 years ago when ammo was plentiful and reasonably priced. Also have a bunch of Win Ranger, Rem Golden Saber and some really hot Corbon, along with a plentiful supply of the standard Gold Dot rounds I carry. I literally haven't bought one round of ammo since CA passed all the tyrannical ammo laws a few years back, aside from the frangible ammo I had to buy in NV for my NV renewal qualification last March.

It's almost impossible to find factory loaded HP's of any kind, and if you can, the prices are absurd. HP bullets for reloading are hard to find, too, so I got what I could.
200 rounds of .45ACP JHP ammo should last me the rest of my life. They aren't intended to be shot for fun. The 185 grainers will no doubt be easier to shoot in the lightweight Glock than the 230 grainers. I can use the 230 grainers in my 1911's, my 645, or the Uberti SAA.
I guess I should buy a box of 250-255 grainers to load up in .45 Colt cases. My dog will enjoy another ride to the reloading place tomorrow.
