Birdshot at 30 yards or so is hardly lethal to a human being. Some accounts say the range was closer, and one pellet seems to have penetrated his chest wall and ended up close to his heart, so I guess it's hard to say exactly what the distance was.
Getting back to the point, though, Cheney did not deliberately aim a gun at another human being and pull the trigger like Badlands Baldwin did.

So, your point is...what, exactly? That it's o.k. for MAGA morons to politicize the Alec Baldwin movie set tragedy, but not the Dick Cheney shooting incident? Explain.

I am surprised that a 78 year old man survived a gunshot near the heart given his age. Just my .02.... not making a political statement here or my previous post

Hmmm...MY dad, back in the late 50s-early 60s, taught us to ALWAYS assume a gun is loaded when you pick it up, and check it before going ANYWHERE... One would THINK a high school teacher would be able to teach his children something similar...

Deliberate or not, Cheney should have known better than to have his hand on the trigger if he was not ready to shoot. And, deliberate or not, he should not have had the gun pointing in the direction of anyone unless he intended to shoot that person. Baldwin aimed at the camera, as most all shooting scenes in movies are staged. the victims were standing behind the camera to see how the scene would look. But, the gun should have been checked by Baldwin, the man that picked up the gun from outside the building, and the armorer who should have had the guns secured instead of lying on a table outside the set.

He WAS ready to shoot, and he was shooting at some flushed quail. Somehow or another, Harry Whittington got between him and the quail, and the shot was fired. Cops have shot each other in the exact scenario too. Once that trigger motion starts, it is VERY hard to stop it. I got lucky one time myself, or I would have shot a Sheriff's deputy who stepped between me and a bad dog. Somehow as I was falling backwards and pulling the trigger, I caught the deputy out of the corner of my eye and relaxed pressure as he stepped in front of me. You don't know what can happen unless you have been there.
I don't know what movie protocol is, to be exact, but I simply find it extremely ironic that all these anti-gun Hollyweird types get rich off movies with EXTREME gun violence. It doesn't matter that pansy Rock is going to use rubber guns from now on. He is still glamorizing the use of guns far beyond how they are normally used by ANYONE. Even gangstas don't shoot up people like the movies portray. I'll make an exception for terrorists and drug cartels, of course.

Seems pretty obvious the Baldwin prosecutor is a democrat. Had it been an honest citizen, he'd be lucky to be out on bail. Ms. Carmack-Altwies is a democrat within an elected position. She appears to be moving carefully and has dismissed sabotage. Next seems to be confirming the projectile was not a malfunctioning or mis-manufactured blank [my speculation]. Mary Carmack-Altwies (Democratic Party) is the New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney. Carmack-Altwies assumed office on January 1, 2021. Carmack-Altwies' current term ends on January 1, 2025. ballotpedia.org/Mary_Carmack-AltwiesDistrict Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies is investigating the incident and has dismissed claims the incident was due to sabotage, refuting allegations made by the armourer's lawyer. www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/i-know-who-loaded-that-gun-district-attorney-speaks-out-about-rust-shooting-sabotage-claims/WHT46I4BNV25BC5H5QLLGWNPEU/ Nov. 10 2021 SANTA FE, N.M. — The Santa Fe County district attorney said on Tuesday that she was not ruling out criminal charges in last week’s fatal shooting on a film set. ..... “We haven’t ruled out anything,” the district attorney, Mary Carmack-Altwies, said in a telephone interview. “Everything at this point, including criminal charges, is on the table.”Ms. Carmack-Altwies said that the investigation was focusing on ballistics in an effort to determine what kind of round was in the gun that killed Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer — and who had placed the ammunition in the gun. “There were an enormous amount of bullets on this set, and we need to find out what kinds they were,” Ms. Carmack-Altwies said. Detectives said that they recovered three revolvers, spent casings and ammunition — in boxes, loose and in a fanny pack — while executing a search warrant on the set, according to an inventory of the items released on Monday. The inventory did not specify what kind of ammunition was found on the set. www.nytimes.com/2021/10/26/movies/criminal-charges-shooting-alec-baldwin.html

I ain't saying it wasn't an accident. Plus the guy was simply eXpressing regret at all the hassle Cheney and his family were getting. The headline just sounded chuckle-worthy: Whittington Apologizes to Cheney For Shooting Incident".😄
