Great career for Posey. One of my favorite Noles. Retiring to watch his kids grow up. Good for him.

Had arguably the best season of his career, is only 34, and leaves a $22 million option on the table playing for a team that won 107 games this season. Wow... ...and yeah. IMO, easy HOFr.

I don't know about "easy" HOFr but I think he has a good chance. What will hurt him are his power numbers. He isn't even in the conversation with guys like Fisk, Berra, Bench and Piazza but his .302 career BA in an era when catchers don't hit a lick will give him a big boost. If he were to make it, that would be the sixth best BAs of any catcher in the HOF. His hit and RBI totals, while respectable, would be way down the list. Again, though, he out up those numbers when his peers weren't (sans a few like Molina, Pudge, etc). What I think puts him in are his defensive numbers. 27 career passed balls... 27! Bench is the gold standard for defensive catchers and he had 94. Caught stealing percentage? Bench was at 43% while Posey threw out a respectable 33% of the runners who tried him. BTW, Molina is this generation's Bench behind the plate and throws out 40%. I think he gets in but given the love affair with the long ball, I don't think he is a lock.

Munson had less HRs, less RBIs and a worse batting average in just about the same number of games played. Munson did throw out an incredible 44% of base stealers but he also had 533 passed balls. I would take Posey over Munson all day.
