as trump was trying to overturn the results of the election, most republicans knew he lost but just shrugged their shoulders at trumps behavior. they saw nothing wrong with letting trump be trump. it will all work itself out was the collective belief.
one of the websites that pushed the stolen election narrative was gateawaypundit. fred spent months posting numerous gatewaypundit articles here in a ridiculous attempt to prove that the election was stolen from trump. it was comical and a bit sad but seemingly came off as harmless. trump supporters like fred couldnt' accept that trump lost so they desperately were clinging onto any outlet that would tell them what they wanted to hear....and that's exactly what gatewaypundit did. but the article below is a reminder as to why trumps actions and the republican strategy of just letting trump be trump had serious consequences.

essentially, an election volunteer in GA was caught on camera picking up a box of ballots that were filed away for the night. gatewaypundit spent months obsessively ruining this poor womans life simply b/c she lifted a box of ballots onto a table after being told it was time to begin counting ballots for the day. oan picked up the story. eventually president trump tweeted the story and complained about this worker to the GA secretary of state. her and her family were harraed and received numerous threats.
