The historic drought conditions and widespread, annual forest fires out here in the American West lately are catastrophic.

This isn't just lousy weather.  It's catastrophic climate change.

They always tend to hedge about the subject-- not wanting to overgeneralize.

Understandable, but let's get real.  Greenland is turning green in the 21st century, and glaciers everywhere are vanishing, including Glacier National Park.  (I took my daughters up there 20 years ago.)

I visited the Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau on two Alaskan cruises, about ten years apart.

The extent of the shrinkage is astonishing.
