I love early season baseball. You still think your team has a chance and you get to see new prospects. Royals announced the too ranked prospect in baseball, Bobby Witt Jr., will be the starting 3B for KC this year.

Dodgers rolled out a pitcher named Bobby Miller tonight who threw 3 scoreless innings with a 100 MPH 2 and 4 seam FB, a cutter and a curve and got them all over the plate. I'm like, Holy crap! Who is this kid? I know. Spring training, and he apparently has only thrown a little over 50 innings as a pro at any level..but still...geez.
So yeah...Let's play ball!!

The Mets went on a spending spree this winter and are ready to make some noise in the NL. Then deGrom hits the shelf with a bum shoulder and prized FA signee Max Scherzer comes up with a bad hamstring the very next day. Ugh. All seems well with Max now but the deGrom issue is a little more worrisome. We'll see if all that money can translate to a quality product on the field. BTW, if any of you are T-Mobile customers, go to your T-Mobile Tuesdays app and redeem the MLB.tv offer before next week. It's one of the best things we do every year and will save you $139. You're welcome.

Does it have arm side movement? Man, it wasn't that long ago if you were at a high school game and a kid was hitting 90 there would be a dozen scouts there.

Not sure if the 2 seamers hit 100, but he did run them up into RHHs. According to postgame, about half his 50+ pitches were 4 seamers. His FB AVERAGE SPEED was 99.4 MPH. The kid is out of U Louisville. Dodgers are sending him to AA to work on some things, but consensus is we may see him soon back up.

We have a family friend whose youngest son was a very high draft pick several years ago. He is a big kid and threw very hard in high school. As happens so often with these kids, his mechanics led him to have arm troubles and eventually TJ surgery. He pitches for the Yankees now and is a solid starter but has never approached the level anticipated for him when he was a high first round draft pick.

During the game, the 3rd base coached was miked and said the pitching coaches were working with mechanics and arm angle, which is why he is headed to AA, so hopefully they are addressing his arm health for the long haul.
