I went back to my old home town today to the church pastored by my longtime friend. We met when we were 13 and became immediate friends and have remained best friends ever since. Despite many interruptions of distance and time, whenever we get back together it's as if we've never been apart. We now talk several times a week and meet for lunch often and we go down to his church about once a month to hear his sermons. He has retired twice, but a dwindling church always asks him to come save them. He takes no salary, just expenses and a small stipend to help with health costs. Roger preaches from his heart, and immense knowledge of the Bible. (He has a PhD in divinity, and 55 years behind the pulpit)
