Used from a dealer, through Gunbroker.
$721, before taxes and shipping fees.  $835 total.

A2 sights.

It's in excellent shape and this is how it looks right now:

Then there was the $40 receiving fee to the FFL holder in Baton Rouge.

I have already ordered a new A2 straight stock (complete) for it, for $75.00.

The total expenditure is getting up there, but hell, it's only money.     Luckily, my years of owning the Mini-14 has me well-stocked on food for it for now.

Latest update on my evil AR.

I haven't posted anything about it lately because I am embarrassed to admit I got a f u cking LEMON.  It won't shoot straight for shit with iron sights.

No matter what you do, it prints way right of the aim point.   I thought it might be my poor shooting technique, but a lot of AR-savvy people shot it, and THEY couldn't make it hit either.    And it doesn't matter if the rear sight is cranked full left.

As an experiment, I mounted a red dot on it, and with the red dot, it is a tack driver.

Now it is in the shop, making sure that the front sight is not canted off to the left, and having a whole new rear sight installed.   If that doesn't fix the problem, then I will have to rely solely on the red dot, even though it is mounted in such a way that the iron sights are still usable.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR .....................................

At least the totally reliable Mini-14 is ready to go.

P.S. I did mount the A2 full straight stock and an early style pistol grip without that pointy finger thingy on the front, and it LOOKS really great now.

I really think it is simply a matter of the front sight being slightly canted to the left, but I won't know for sure until they finish working on it.   Both of the front sight mounting pins were broken when I got it, so those have definitely been replaced.

As I said, accuracy with the red dot is spot on, and I don't recall any malfunctions with the actual firing of the weapon.

I put .223, 5.56, and some crappy steel cased .223 through it, and to the best I can recall, it ate them all just fine.

I THINK I had an issue with one plastic mag misfeeding, but the metal ones worked just fine.   I don't keep records when I go shoot, so all I can go on is my memory.

Any mag I get gets a complete breakdown, a thorough cleaning inside and out, and the inside treated with this stuff. Since it's a dry lube it doesn't attract dirt at all. Mags function flawlessly.

I've never had a problem putting a drop of oil on the interior wall of a magazine and then working the follower up and down a few or 10 times.

I don't like plastic mags at all, even though I have a few for my Mini-14 as well.

I am just hard-headed old school.

I have no choice with the Glock.   I don't think anyone makes metal mags for them.
