This is a talking point with the the loony left that will fall on deaf ears. You're only going to the market, gas station, Walmart or the mall, even church. Why do you need a gun??
Why have a fire extinguisher at home? The chances you'll have a fire are pretty low, and that's why we have a fire department. Same irrational argument.
If I knew in advance I would need a gun, my preferred option would be to not go to that place at that time, and the less favorable option would be take a long gun and friends with long guns.
Don't forget, many self defense uses of firearms don't even result in a shot being fired. The overall number of armed people increasing is definitely going to be a deterrent, at least against opportunistic criminals.
If you're specifically targeted, that's not going to help.
The higher the number of armed people who aren't going to cause harm, the better the odds of being able to stop someone before significant harm is done.
Simply do not engage such questions.
You will not "win" an anti-gun person.
And it's a bullshit argument.
If I "have to carry a gun" to go anywhere, I have no need, desire or likelihood of going there.
I do not "HAVE to carry a gun". I CHOOSE to carry, because there is no guarantee that any one of the nearly 8 billion people will protect or defend my life, but the number of them that would threaten my life, are in the many of millions.
And anyone that understands that, likely does not engage such a question, either.
Carry everywhere, all the time. And I do so where allowed by law.

I carry a pistol to work every day
Last year a couple of techs from a big hvac co in town were shot while at a customers house by a deranged lunatic who was there to murder a prominent dr and his family.
Not to mention NC is a liberal state and crime is rampant

I carry a handgun every day, period. Why? Because I have that right. That is the only reason I need. That is the only reason anyone needs.
It's very rare that I'm not carrying. I never go anywhere where I'm prohibited from carrying, and if I have to go on school property or the post office I leave it at home. But that's pretty much the only time when I'm dressed that I'm not carrying. I always know where it is, that it's safe, and I'm 100% in control of it. Every other firearm is securely locked up in a safe. And only one of those is actually loaded and chambered as backup in a quick access pistol safe. It will be nice to have at least one loaded AR in a wall mounted quick access action safe. Almost there, brother. |

I'll even stop and chat with the local LEO's if they want to. Only a few of them know who I am now. 15 years away has taken its toll.
