Fresh Blueberries

We went up to a friends house and picked four gallons of blueberries this morning. Blueberry cobbler tomorrow for dessert!

Sadly, we had to give up our blueberry bushes when we left CA. I eat blueberries religiously.

Unfortunately, bluberries don't grow well in Colorado, so we have to buy them at the grocery stores.

I've noticed over the years that every carton of blueberries we buy at the local stores is different-- perhaps somewhat analogous to variable grape vintages in wine making(?)

Some cartons are terrific, and some are relatively flavor-less.

Pot grow them w low PH soil. Co soil is generally high PH. Blueberries no likey. Check out CSU for information.

We have 5 blueberry bushes that did pretty good this year, but I got a bumper crop out of my blackberries my nectarines and my pears

My friend also has about 50 muscadine vines. He and his wife make muscadine jelly and give away bucketsful of them. I'm going to teach him how to make muscadine wine this fall.
