Dang He's my qb on two of my fantasy teams, both in first place, and the play offs start this week😥 pick up gardner minshew. he went 20/25 for 250 yards and 2 TD's in the one game he started in 2021. he's a very capable backup. and with mike leach's recent passing, it actually might be fate that he goes off big time on national TV/Christmas eve in front of the most eyeballs that will watch any regular season game this year. as concerned as i am for the fate of your fantasy team, i'm more concerned that if the eagles get a bye week in the wild card round of the playoffs, hurts might go 5 weeks between games. can a QB come out sharp after being rested for 5 weeks?

sharp? probably not. better healed? probably. Didn't say he'd be sharp, just that he can run if need be teams usually stack the box against the eagles and make it difficult for the eagles and hurts to run. the reason why the eagles offense has sort of exploded this season is because hurts is now able to torch teams who commit an extra safety to stopping the eagles run game. this allows for one on one coverage with both devonta smith and AJ Brown who are both great WR's. not only do the eagles have two great WR's but they also have an offensive line that protects hurts so well that they allow time for all these plays to develop. lots of teams would love to exploit defensive mismatches like the eagles do but no other team in the league has the Eagles offensive line which allows the QB to wait for long pass plays to develop. the eagles earlier in the season struggled against teams that blitzed often as hurts initial instinct against a heavy blitz was to run. hurts is gifted physically but he's not lamar jackson or justin fields with his legs. he's more like a younger russell wilson. so blitzing him was prettty effective. but recently, he's been better at staying in the pocket against a blitz and finding a hot route. you can tell they've worked hard on this part of his game throughout the season. the bottom line is that for the eagles offense to work, hurts needs to be able to throw downfield when teams have one on one coverage on their wr's. if his throws are on and the defense refuses to adjust, the eagles will throw for a lot of yards. if they adjust, the eagles will just run the ball down your throat. it truly has been a thing of beauty to watch. oh and btw, dallas goedert is back this week. he's a top 5 NFL TE and a prototypical modern TE. he is a problem for defenses b/c he a very effective run blocker but at the same time, he is too big to be covered by a defensive back but too quick to be covered by a LB. he can run after the catch as well. hurts hits him with a lot of easy looking throws over the middle b/c defenses have so much attention on elsewhere. his problem is that he's a bit prone to injury.

Hurts is much better than Fields statistically. Fields has about 250 more rushing yards, but that's his only advantage

A Running qb has its advantages IF you get a very good one, drafting another one every 5 yrs can have its disadvantages. Though you'll have one on a rookie contract forever.

Though you'll have one on a rookie contract forever.Eagles had the pocket passer in Wentz who i was never really impressed with. Hurts passing has improved to the point he's become a very effective qb. He's doing exactly what he did in college at a pro level, which seems to be a trending direction in the Nfl, with dual threat qbs like Hurts,Jackson,Fields,Allen Imo, he's the Eagles franchise qb
