While I knew about Muammar al-Qaddafi's terrorist inclinations, I was not aware that Libya had located such an enormous source of water, or that he had initiated such a massive infrastructure project. It really is something to consider the scale of this effort and just how long these pipelines are, to say nothing of the extreme working conditions.
I would think Libya's water source gives it a strategic advantage in the region, but wonder if those pipelines are also a vulnerability as well.
There is some interesting history, some politics, some geography, and some science in this video, and it even seems to delve a little into some interesting climate science... which is why I thought this video was worth sharing.

Pretty damn cool… Uh Oh. Seems like that massive project in Libya has some flaws. More than 2,200 dead and the toll in rising.

Over 10,000 dead and thousands still missing. Looks like that water project was a bust. Just like that dam.
