just saw where john adams has passed away at the age of 71. the summer of '73 my family moved from central ohio up to canton, and that was the summer that adams, at age 23, started taking a garage sale bass drum to cleveland stadium and sitting up high in the bleachers. for 48 years, sans the 45 home games he missed, he was there at the old stadium then the new one downtown, beating a steady rhythm that everyone there just had to clap to. that's close to 3900 games he attended until the '21 season after his health began to fail. for most of his first 20 years, he saw a lot of bad baseball, but in the mid 90s when the talent coalesced and jacobs field was sold out nightly, his drumming was simply a part of indians baseball. r.i.p. john. your indian fever certainly made a lot of believers.

His health issues led to having guest drummers keeping the beat until he got back....may he rip.

Wondered about him a few times over the years, never knew the story at all...sorry to see that he's passed, may he RIP...

I seem to recall a part in the movie Major League where they supposedly paid homage to this guy.
