Red State Gov Refuses To Enforce Feds’ Pistol Brace Rule That ‘Erodes The Second Amendment’ Story by Bronson Winslow • Yesterday 1:44 PM Republican Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland Thursday, saying that Montana will not enforce the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) final rule for pistol braces. The letter said that the ATF’s final pistol rule “erodes the Second Amendment,” further reminding Garland that Montana passed legislation in 2021 that blocks Montana law enforcement and employees from enforcing any federal law on guns, according to the letter. The rule, announced in January, will void all previous guidance on pistols braces, opting to redefine “rifle” as any weapon “designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder,” forcing pistol brace owners to register their pistols as short barrel rifles (SBR) with the federal government. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/red-state-gov-refuses-to-enforce-feds-pistol-brace-rule-that-erodes-the-second-amendment/ar-AA17jd1k?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=cd73a5e46abd46ce8c9a7629a38d179a

I speak as a SoCal kid, so take it for what it's worth, which ain't much, but I was surprised (and under-dressed) at how cold it can get in LV. I reckon it ain't Montana-cold, but it ain't KeyWest either.

GOD BLESS MONTANA. Wife and I talked many times about moving there. Each time cold was brought up that was the end of that. Didn't read further after the announcement, "Gianforte said in the letter. “As a matter of law, the State of Montana and its political subdivisions cannot enforce, or assist the ATF with enforcement.”" but, at the retail level, it doesn't stop the BATF from enforcing Fed rules, either directly or as part of a compliance check of their FFL License, as I read it. I could be wrong. Consequences may include losing one's FFL license to sell firearms, both new and used, should one have one. Those consequences would include business both large and small. And having aftermarket products for sale could also include jeopardy to their valuable license asset, if they had one. It wouldn't stop them from opening up a seperate business but I doubt the volume would support that. Though individuals could buy parts over the net but not finished guns.
Big Box Multi-State Retailers, like a Bass Pro/Cabelas, who are the biggest buyers of Firearms after the US Gov, will probably not sell them or facilitate any Intermediary transfer or sell any aftermarket products. While that may open the doors for non-boxes to sell parts, anyone who has a FFL license will probably hesitate to sell parts or completed firearms.
In St L, the big boxes abide by the new Illnose rules when selling to Ill residents involving long guns.
