Asking for positive thoughts and well wishes for my nephew

He's my sisters son, the one who races the stock cars.

While on vacation in Florida with my parents he became ill with several abdominal pain. Finally they went to a hospital where it was found his intestines were twisted

He's scheduled for surgery tomorrow

He was at Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston, Florida

They kept running more and more tests pushing back surgery

They finally did a scope on Monday

It turned out he was suffering from a extreme case of acid reflux. The surgeon said it was the worst He's ever seen

My nephew has always been very thin and never would eat. He's 17 and when they got to the hospital he weighed 102lbs

My 8 year son weighs 70lbs

After 12 hours of not eating or drinking they did a Scope and found his stomach completely full of fluids. Stomach acid

They did do a couple of biopsies and put him on a couple medications

He flew back home with his mom (my sister) on Wednesday after being released on Tuesday from the hospital

I've always wondered how that kid could race a stock car being so small.

Glad to hear he is well enough to travel home. Clewiston would not be my first (2nd, 3rd or 4th) choice for hospital care. Hoping he continues to improve.

Seems like positive news. He's on the mend, hopefully. Best karma to him. Re racing. Less weight is an advantage, all other things being equal. Until it isn't. 102 isn't, it seems. How tall is he? F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda is 5'3" and 110. But all things aren't equal and drivers come in all shapes and sizes.

Most drivers weigh 150 or more. You need muscle mass to steer the car around the track and take the crashes

Dirt track racing isn't like NASCAR lol

Strict rules regarding car weight.
If driver is light, weight is added for cars to be equal.

NASCAR driver Tiny Lund was 6'5" and weighed 270 lbs.

Since coming home he's gained 10lbs

He will. He's gained 10lbs since coming home and being put on medication

Car is being fixed up for this year. Rear end and engine are getting necessary maintenance done for the year. New body is on the way

Due to the lovely weather in NE Ohio racing doesn't start till late April or early May around here.

Granted we've had an extremely mild winter here. 2nd warmest on record so far
