The Tampa Bay Rays are one win away from tying to the modern record for wins to start a season. Starting 12-0, they have outscored their opponents an incredible 92-27. Granted, their schedule hasn't exactly out them up against a murderer's row but 12 wins in a row against anybody is damn impressive.
The Rays, historically known for their small ball approach, are knocking the cover off the ball. They are second in team batting average (.286), first in HRs (30), first in total runs (92), first in OBP (.367) and first in slugging (.578). They are even making winners of guys making their MLB debut (Taj Bradley).
One more note about their HRs, they didn't hit their 30th HR as a team last year until game 32.
Today, they face former Rays pitcher Corey Kluber, who is sporting a not-so-great 6.48 ERA. What could possibly go wrong? 😁
